Hotcard Technology Private Limited [Singapore] (www.hotcardtech.com) specializes in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Business Card Recognition (BCR) technology. The co***ny was established in 2001. It is a spin-off co***ny from the largest IT research lab in Singapore --- Institute of Inforcomm Research (i2r --- www.i2r.org.sg), which was previously known as Kent Ridge Digital Labs (KRDL), with Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A *Star --- www.a-star.org.sg ) as its major shareholder. Prior to its inception, the co***ny research personnel spent 12 years conducting R&D work on OCR/BCR technology. The co***ny [Hotcard] has total staff strength of 45 people with 80% of them in R&D work with a subsidiary co***ny (Hotcard Technology Pte Xiamen Branch) in China. Its core business is developing innovative multi-lingual mobile OCR / BCR applications. Mobile OCR/BCR technology is a solution to solving the bottleneck problem of data input for handheld devices. Hotcard technology has the expertise to do embedded Latin and Asian languages OCR/BCR, especially for handheld devices such as Mobile phones, PDAs, Pocket PCs, Scanpens, digital cameras and Educational toys.
Currently, Hotcard is the first co***ny in the world, which has the ability to perform BCR technology on a PDA and a cell phone, due to its co***ct sized OCR engine. Hotcard¡¯s partners include HP, MOTOROLA, BENQ, WIZCOM, FOUNDER, etc.
